Garden Pergola Stowmarket - Garden Fence Panels Needham Market

Most gardeners should have done all their planting by now and should be looking forward to enjoying their outdoor space. However, there is always something to do, even now when summer is starting to reach its peak.

Here Lumberjacks identify four jobs which usually come around in midsummer, but which are relatively low maintenance if you don’t fancy embarking on any major projects.

A Concrete Suggestion

It’s a good idea to add concrete gravel boards at this time of year because it should be reasonably dry and sunny, and it shouldn’t be too big a job even if it’s hot. There are also aesthetic benefits to gravel boards too, as they may help level out any uneven areas at the bottom of the fence.

Deadhead Perennials and Bedding Plants

Unfortunately, you may have to do a certain amount of floral work now – particularly if you have planted any bedding plants or roses, peonies, camellias or bedding plants.

The Royal Horticultural Society points out that these flowers in particular will need to be deadheaded to encourage new blooms, as well as making sure they don’t scatter their old dead leaves all over the ground (inhibiting the fresh growth of all plants).

A Little Painting (or Spraying)

Again, this should be a good time for (re)painting sheds or fences as it should be reasonably dry, and the paint or varnish will be able to dry quickly.

At Lumberjacks we have a full range of wood treatments available here in various shades and for various types of timber products. These include Frogsuit Wood Protector, which comes in aerosol form, so you don’t have to get the brushes out. It helps guard against rot, mould and insect attacks.

Buy Some Garden Furniture

It’s much easier to enjoy your garden if you have somewhere to sit. This could mean a chair, a bench, a dining or picnic table with benches if you fancy eating outside. At Lumberjacks we have got all of these covered – for more details of what garden furniture we currently have in stock, just follow this link.

And if you need some shade, then why not try a pergola?  Admittedly it may involve a little more work, but at the end of the day you will have somewhere to sit in the shade (or you will be protected from the rain) regardless of the weather.
