Artificial turf Capel St Mary – supplied by Lumberjacks

Although artificial grass looks good all year round, one of the best times to lay it down is usually now – at the start of the summer holidays. Here Lumberjacks, who supply artificial turf to customers in Capel St Mary, Ipswich and across Suffolk, explain why.

The Right Weather

It’s the perfect time for installation, as the weather should be good enough. Any dry period is ideal for getting the groundwork done and allowing the adhesive to set. Late July or early August also means you’ll have a fresh, green lawn ready to enjoy for the rest of what summer has in store.

The Summer Holidays are Here

Children always like to have somewhere to play during their long holiday – and an artificial lawn should guarantee this. It should be soft enough not to cause any problems if they fall over, and it also won’t produce any pollen, which can be an issue for children who suffer from hay fever. And, whatever they get up to, they shouldn’t be able to damage it either.

The same applies to pets as they won’t be hurt by prolonged contact with it, nor will it be damaged by any unwanted ‘deposits’ (such as urine). It’s not just good for children and pets, but adults too, because you will be able to make the most of your garden during the longer daylight hours entertaining guests, eating outdoors, relaxing, and more.

You Don’t Need to Worry About Its Appearance

One of the problems – certainly in Suffolk - in recent years has been the variable weather. From long and hot dry spells to sudden torrential downpours. This has meant that grass can very easily either look brown and almost dead, or it is waterlogged very quickly. Both of these can spoil the overall appearance of your garden. Artificial turf, in contrast, always looks immaculate, whatever the weather or the time of year.

Water Conservation

Although some critics have claimed that artificial turf doesn’t do much for your garden’s eco-system, it does have plenty of other environmental benefits. Firstly, you don’t need to put a hose or sprinkler on it, so you will be conserving water, which is particularly important during a drought and consequently any hosepipe bans.

It also doesn’t need any pesticides or artificial stimulants, preventing chemical runoff into the soil and local water. You don’t need to mow it either – so no petrol, or electricity either (which is easier on your pocket and gives you more free time), on top of all the green benefits.

Artificial Turf from Lumberjacks

At Lumberjacks, we stock Likewise artificial turf, which is pet-friendly, low maintenance, UV-resistant and available in full rolls or cut lengths. It is manufactured to a high quality and is hard-wearing, with the added benefit of being available in different thicknesses to suit your individual needs.

Our artificial grass is easy to maintain, so no more cutting, watering, or weeding. It can easily be cleaned using a hose and a natural-bristle brush. And we can make laying it down easy as well because we also stock joining tape and adhesive.

We can also supply a sub base for your lawn as we stock MOT Type 1 Bulk Bags (approx. 875kg). And our Granite Dust 0mm-6mm Bulk Bags can also be used as a binding layer as they do not retain moisture (specifically, pets’ urine) and so can help avoid any unwanted smells.

If you would still prefer to stay with the real thing, then we supply natural grass as well.

You will, however, have to place an order for our real turf rolls, because it usually takes one or two weeks to come in. Our supplier is a leading turf producer who has been growing turf for gardens and specialist turf applications since 1988, from its base in Suffolk.

We can also deliver your turf directly to your door. For more details, check out our deliveries page.
