One of the most commonly used fencing rails which are attached to the posts and then clad with feather edge or palisade slats. Cant rails can be used with wooden posts, concrete posts and our new Durapost range.
Cant rails are machined from (2ex) 125mm x 47mm and have an angled cut to allow water to run off easily, prolonging the life of the rails. The finished size per cant rail is roughly 75mmx 47mm. Cant rails are stocked in pressure treated brown but available in green and are subject to special order.
Cant rails can be secured by the following methods:
Screwed or nailed to a wooden post using a 100mm nail/screw.
Bolted using a m10 bolt and nut and washer to secure it to a concrete post.
Screwed using a 40mm screw to a classic Durapost.
When installing cant rails we recommend that you use the below specification when you are constructing your fencing.
Fencing height
Number of rails recommended
0.9m-1.2m
2 Rails
1.35m-1.8m
3 Rails
2.1m-above
4 Rails
You then need to decide what bay size (distance between post centres) you would like. We can offer materials to achieve 1.8m, 2.4m, 2.7m, 3.0m bays . If you install at 1.8m or 2.4m bays we stock 3.6m and 4.8m cant rails so you can span 2 posts at a time and offset your joins to help strengthen your fencing line.
